Before leaving work today, my co-workers gave me a cute little care package including some essentials for Marathon weekend. Inspiring card, powerbar, whole grain pasta, muscle milk (contains no actual milk....who knew!) blister bandages (yeah, gonna need these!), foot cream, deodorant and some bengay. Awesome! What a great crew!
I took off a couple hours early to head in for packet pickup and beat all the mayhem tomorrow or Sunday. Glad I did. It was busy, but not crazy busy. I even ran into Pat, a fellow DFMC teammate and ironically discovered on one of our runs that she used to work for my current boss at UMass Med School. Who knew??!Old South Boston, UCC. Love this. Blessing of the athletes. Right at the finish line. Right where we need it!
And the finish line.
Number pick up. No lines!
Expo EntranceSome of the booths from the expo. The expo would be awesome if you had like a gazillion dollars to spend on every runner gear thing you could possibly think of. I didn't take as much time in there - felt a little overwhelmed and I wanted to make sure I left enough time to drop off my Dana-Farber info at Copley Place and make it back to the train. Of course I had *plenty* of time, but by the time I got where I needed to be, I wasn't going to go back. I would love to walk all over, but I have a lot more time to be on my feet on Monday!
But, I did get to pick up my bag. The green bag is to put all of my stuff in for bag check to pick up at the finish line. It is huge, so plenty of room for a change of clothes, not to mention several options for the starting line even.
In the bag included some free swag. Not that you can really see it all in the picture - but we have the adidas finishers shirt, official program, 26.2 sticker, water bottle (that tore a hole in my bag argh....) bare naked granola, dole fruit snacks, smucker's natural pb, and my kids' favorite - a cow bell! (Remotes not included in the bag.)
